~ Great Basin Nat’l Park
[codepeople-post-map]
The massive peaks of Great Basin National Park rise up from the high desert floor to subalpine heights. Wheeler Peak, the highest in the park, is at 13,063 feet elevation. There are a few small year-round snowfields up high and some beautiful alpine lakes. Two of the biggest attractions for visitors to Great Basin are the groves of ancient Bristlecone pines and the Lehman Cave tours. Unfortunately I found that the cave tours fill up ahead of time online, due to the popularity. Schedule that in advance!
