~ Little Colorado River
[codepeople-post-map]The Little Colorado river flows from the mountains of northeastern Arizona toward the Colorado River, joining it near Cameron, just east of the Grand Canyon. Usually dry or just a trickle, it carries huge volumes of water after storms, draining a vast area of northern Arizona. The Grand Falls of the Little Colorado is formed east of Flagstaff, where a lava flow from a cinder cone in the San Francisco Peak volcanic area once forced the river to stop flowing west and turn straight north. It’s a beautiful grassland area and home to pronghorn antelope.
